The Department of Geology, part of the School of Earth, Society and the Environment (SESE), invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Computational Geoscience. A Ph.D. degree in geophysics, geology, or a closely related field is required. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a prominent, externally funded research program and to provide excellence in teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
We seek individuals who use computational methods to analyze and understand Earth processes, broadly defined. Possible specializations include but are not limited to geodynamics, geophysics (including seismology), mineralogy, geochemistry, tectonics, and surface processes. Preference will be given to those individuals able to contribute courses in geophysics to the department curriculum.

Excellent opportunities exist for collaboration with other departments of SESE, NCSA, the College of Engineering, the Prairie Research Institute, the Mid-America Earthquake Center, and the Beckman Institute.
