  Mass Spectrometry Laboratory- Isotope Geochemistry

We are currently installing a Nu Plasma multi collector ICP-MS

We conduct research into the workings of the Earth and biogeochemical activity on the surface of Earth using the tools of isotope and trace element geochemistry. Our research objectives are broadly divided into understanding magmagenetic and environmental isotopic geochemical processes such as:

MORB petrogenesis using U-series isotopes,
Timescales of crustal level differentiation processes using U-series isotopes,
Se isotopic fractionation induced by abiotic and biological reactions,
Developing Cr isotopes as source and biological indicators,
Dating of surface carbonates,
Investigating groundwater flow using Sr and U isotope ratios.
