Research Areas

To find further information about resources within a traditional discipline, simply click on the discipline in the list to the left. To emphasize iinterdisciplinary interactions, we organize research areas focused on particular parts of the Earth system by themes below.

Deep Earth: Core, mantle and the geodynamics that link them.

Lithosphere: Processes occurring in the rigid plate and above and the interactions between crust and hydrosphere.

Bio and Hydrosphere: The interactions between life and planet Earth, both in present times and deep past.

Our department is one of three departments in the School of Earth, Society, and Environment. The other members are the Department of Atmospheric Science, and the Department of Geography. Click on these departments to access the programs that they offer. The School also hosts the interdisciplinary Center for Water as Complex Environmental System
