Cross sections in Move

The Department, along with the Illinois State Geological Survey, is fortunate to have been granted access to software donated by Petroleum Experts to use in research and education of students. The software, known as Move, is a premier structural geology modeling and analysis toolkit.  The Move suite provides an integrated platform for interpreting data, cross-section construction, 3D model building, kinematic restoration and validation, geomechanical modeling, fracture modeling, fault response modeling, and fault and stress analysis. This software enhances our capabilities in subsurface interpretation.

The yearly value of this grant is $2.18 million. The university contact for this Petroleum Expert grant is Dr. Sherilyn Williams-Stroud of the ISGS, who has developed strong links to the department and has deep industry experience to offer to Department of Geology students.
