Kay receives 2012 Alumni Achievement Award

Suzanne Mahlberg Kay (B.S. '69, M.S. '72), Professor of Geology at Cornell University received the Department of Geology Alumni Achievement Award at a ceremony before her Colloquium Talk on October, 19, 2012.

Dr. Kay went on to receive a Ph.D. from Brown University in 1975 then moved to Cornell in 1976. She is most interested in petrology and magmatic processes at convergent margins and the lower crust, contributing many papers and insights especially to the formation of the Andes and South American subduction zone processes.

Currently she is Vice President of the Geological Society of America and will be the President next year.
