Sharon Mosher (B.S. 1973; Ph.D. 1978) selected for LAS Alumni Achievement Award

Sharon Mosher, Dean of the Jackson School of Geoscience at the University of Texas at Austin, will return to campus in October, 2016 to accept an Alumni Achievement award from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.  Sharon earned a B.S. in Geology at Illinois in 1973, later returning to earn a Ph.D, completed in 1978.  She has had a long and successful research and teaching career.  She is a leading scholar in structural geology, holds the Farish Chair of Geology at UT Austin, one the top Geology programs in the nation, and has been recognized as an excellent educator.  She has been Dean of the Jackson School of Geosciences since 2009.  In addition to her campus leadership, she has served in an astonishing array of national and international leadership roles in the Geoscience Community, most notably as President of the Geological Society of America and President of the American Geosciences Institute, the world's largest federation of geoscientific professional associations.
